An Irish Lesbian's thoughts and observations…

Recently my wife and I were on a night out and were really enjoying ourselves then we got chatting to a guy that seemed quite nice at first until he thought that he had hit the jackpot by meeting this married couple. It seems like he basically thought that we were only gay because we hadn’t met him yet. The usual attitude of a drunk guy full of arrogance and hoping to take home not one but two lesbians. He was very pushy, insisting that if we hadn’t been with him then we couldn’t possibly know for sure that we are gay. It was actually quite amusing to be fair. I think marrying a woman was a fairly solid display of how certain I am of my sexuality but apparently that wasn’t clear enough for some people to comprehend. When his “You need a taste of me” angle failed he started to tell us about other lesbians he had slept with. He even claimed to have slept with some more than once. At this point I had no other option but to ask the poor guy if he actually knew what a lesbian is. I tried to tell him that if a woman is willing to sleep with him, especially more than once, that it would be safe to say that she is probably bisexual, not gay.

Finally, he gave the “I’m amazing in bed” speech one last try. At this point we just walked off. We were originally having a great conversation with this guy before sex came into it. Is everyone obsessed with sex lately or is it just men? I really can’t understand why it is so important for men to try to get with a lesbian. Is it like a trophy or something to them? The unattainable prize is this lady loving lez? Well, guys, sorry to break it to you but a lesbian is only interested in women. Using this logic it seems pretty simple to me: a man will never ever sleep with a lesbian because a lesbian, by definition, doesn’t sleep with men. Why is this concept so difficult to understand?

  1. I agree with this post 100%. I’ve been approached with the line “well, when you and your girl don’t work out, I’ll give you what you’ve been missing… REAL meat.” *blank stare* O_O.. There was a time I had a conversation with a gentleman and I thought he was just inquiring to see how I was doing, but it went south REAL quick. Conversation as follows *ahem*:

[Him]: I am good, could be better. What are you up too?

[Me]: Getting stuff packed, getting ready for the move Monday. What u up to?

[Him]: Where to and nothing much, just shootin’ the sh*t.

[Me]: Im moving 3 hours away with my girlfriend.

[Him]: Oh really. Why? you know you NEED a man not a girlfriend.

[Me]: Don’t take this the wrong way, but what I NEED is for you to stay in your lane, young man. Thank you.

    [Him]: *No response, indefinitely*

No matter the gender in the relationship, a relationship is a relationship. It is so disrespectful for a man (or woman) to be so consistent to open an envelope when it has already been sealed. I love my girlfriend!

Oh yeah, #follow for sure. I am interested to see what else you have roaming around in your mind. 🙂 Thanks for sharing your thought with the rest of us bloggers!

    • That is an experience we shouldn’t have to deal with at all yet most of us have a story about it happening to us! It’s really quite infuriating! “Open an envelope when it has already been sealed” – how fantastically phrased.
Thank you for stopping by and commenting, I enjoy hearing from fellow bloggers. I hope you enjoy reading my posts. 🙂

      • Infuriating, but very amusing at how some males feel that they can alter the mind with the simple tip of his penis and the slaughters of his “clever” words. Such a pity! And thanks! I love using colloquialisms like that. Thanks for the follow! The support is appreciated!

  2. Drunk men are just stupid. I don’t say that because I am lesbian. I say it because I was not always lesbian. Drunk men are just stupid.

    • Haha yes, that is something I’ve noticed! Thank you for sharing your point of view. It’s interesting to see things from both the straight and lesbian side! 🙂

    • They really are! Their sheer arrogance is infuriating. To brighten my mood after a single guy tries to chat me/ us up I tell myself that I’m probably getting more lady action than he is anyway 🙂

  4. It really annoys me that, unfortunately quite a lot of men feel that they can dominate public spaces like this – use up women’s time, take advantage of our politeness and generally can threaten to ruin a nice evening out. Of course, it is fine for people to approach but when the situation is made very clear, I think it is outrageous that they feel they have the right to continue…I wonder if it isn’t about, in truth, attempting to ‘pick up’ but in fact in linked a deep rooted unconscious policing of public spaces. I mean – has this EVER been successful! ??? From what you write, you are a lot more patient and me! How fucking rude!?

    • I definitely don’t think that it could have ever been successful but who knows? I try my best to be patient and not allow them to ruin my night because they are really not worth it. Women that are comfortable in their own skin and that are happy being with another woman seem to be a challenge to the male ego. It appears to be baffling to them that we do not find them attractive. I honestly think that guys are more interested in me when they realise I’m a lesbian. That, to me, is ridiculous!

They’re all the same. Walking penises. No matter what country you live in. All the conversation with male turns to sexual overtones all the time. And it doesn’t matter if you are with your wife at that moment or alone. The word LESBIAN is like a something hypnotic. And yes, it’s a trophy. It’s hot, it’s something he can vanut about between friends. Like he had a lesbian – something impossible. Or two lesbians – dream of all men, ultraimpossible… Mother nature created them to inseminate and that’s what they wanna do.

    • That’s the problem though, it is the impossible. I don’t mean to offend anyone but I genuinely do think that lesbians are lesbians because they do not sleep with men at all. It may be their dream but I think that they need to rethink the logic behind the idea. I actually think it’s kinda funny when a guy tells me that lesbians are attracted to him because that whole sentence is a contradiction. They really do have a very high opinion of themselves if they think they can change me or any of us lady lovers! 🙂

Yep, the whole theme is a stupid cliché. And exactly, it doesn’t make sense. That’s because nobody explained to them when they were kids. They have still feeling lesbians are actually straight girls JUST NOW angry at few men and they will save these temporary lesbians for better world ;D

      • We are happy without their attempts at being our hero. We’re very permanent lesbians with eyes for only each other. Simple, right? 🙂

  7. it’s most frustrating when guys take that stance! It is also so strange that they insist they are right when they really know absolutely nothing about sexuality at all…

    • I think it’s conditioning by all that porn, which caters to their universal fantasy of being Lucky Pierre in a menage a trois, but two women, that’s a little too ambitious, don’t you think? Because when they actually take one woman home they’re minute men.

      • Most likely true! Perhaps it’s also an ego thing or something to do with poor attachments in childhood. Who knows! Also perhaps that they think that little of women being autonomous, intelligent and in touch with themselves and their identity…. Since at the end of the day women are what they want most and (read sarcasm) who could even deny them that.

      • I actually do sometimes wonder if porn really has played a part in this male driven society. The ultimate male fantasy which is put forward to us by both the media and porn, of course, is being with two women. This idea makes lesbians targets for unwanted male attention with some men thinking that we should be interested in a threesome because it makes perfect sense to them.

    • Exactly. They think they are being irresistibly seductive whereas we think they are showing how idiotic they can be. We are not a prize and we are certainly not together simply for their amusement. Really, lesbians are more than just for their pleasure!

      Like

      • So idiotic! I mean, I’d laugh if a guy wanted to take my gf and I home to prove something and then it would get weird and creepy if he kept insisting. It’s just ugh so ignorant and I’d like to slap them and be like, hello, this is the 21st century what are you thinking! Then again, though my country has been gay marriage friendly for 10 years and our constitution includes right to sexuality and gender expression etc, corrective rape is a huge thing- and it’s disgusting. So this whole man power and sex business is a problem for most lesbians I guess.

      • This guy that we encountered was extremely insistent that we needed his magic tongue inside us. Ignorant, yes but stomach turning too! I don’t mean to sound dramatic but the idea of being with a man, any man, is like something from my nightmares. You don’t see straight women insisting that gay men are only gay because they haven’t yet had the pleasure of being with them so why do straight guys think they have the right to do so. Yes, it definitely does seem to be a major problem for us and the fact that the word lesbian seems to be a universal turn on for them doesn’t help our situation at all. We don’t have full marriage rights here yet but we have had civil partnership since 2011.
